Maharashtra FDA resolved 71.8% of portal complaints in three months
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration launched an online complaint portal on July 14 so people could report food and drug issues and track action.
In its first three months, the portal formally registered 13,857 complaints, and the FDA resolved 71.8%.
An AI screening system separately rejected 11,491 submissions it judged incomplete, misleading or outside the FDA’s authority.
Most registered complaints concerned food, especially unhygienic conditions and foreign objects in products.
The FDA says complaints have shifted from restaurants and eateries towards dark stores and quick-commerce services, which now account for nearly half of complaints.
This shift has drawn attention to food storage, handling and quality in quick commerce.
The portal assigns complaints to officers and escalates cases when they miss deadlines, but no further planned action is specified.
