Belichick among five coaches advancing in Hall of Fame process
Bill Belichick and four other coaches advanced in the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection process on Thursday.
The other candidates are Tom Coughlin, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan, all of whom reached this stage last year.
Belichick was not elected in 2026, his first year of eligibility, despite winning six Super Bowls as head coach of the New England Patriots.
The Hall’s coaching subcommittee will choose one of the five to go before the full selection committee.
That committee will decide the Hall’s Class of 2027 along with candidates from other categories.
The class will be announced in February at NFL Honors in Los Angeles, and those selected are due to be inducted in August in Canton, Ohio.
