Andrew Scott could earn two Best Actor Oscar nominations
Irish actor Andrew Scott could be nominated twice for Best Actor at the 2027 Oscars.
The possibility comes from his performances in two films: Pressure, where he plays meteorologist James Stagg, and Elsinore, where he plays actor Ian Charleson.
Stagg helped plan the Allied landings in Normandy during the Second World War, while Charleson played Hamlet in the final months of his life.
The Academy’s new rules allow one performer to receive more than one nomination in the same category for different films.
The change ends a restriction that had been in place for decades, and a double nomination has not happened in the category since 1930.
Scott’s nominations are not guaranteed; Academy voters would still need to select him for both performances.
The 2027 Oscars ceremony is scheduled for March.
