Henssler and Lafer finish eighth and 12th in Croatian fish stew contest

Steffen Henssler and Johann Lafer competed in a contest to cook Brudet, a traditional Croatian fish stew.

The competition took place in the harbour town of Sukošan, where the chefs were filming a new episode of “Grenzenlos Genial Gekocht.”

They spent €1,000 at the fish market to prepare their own versions of the dish.

Lafer served polenta in a hollowed-out onion, while a previous contest winner said his dish was not Brudet, though she liked its taste.

Henssler placed eighth and Lafer 12th, despite the pair receiving an honorary award.

The results came after both chefs had hoped to place among the top three, and Henssler said he had underestimated the traditional dish.

They plan to consider where to compete next after taking a night to think it over.
