Foo Fighters revive ‘Baker Street’ cover to close Jimmy Kimmel residency

The Foo Fighters closed their Jimmy Kimmel Live residency with a cover of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street.”

Dave Grohl has said the song is one of his favorites and brings back memories of growing up in the 1970s.

The band released its version in 1998 as a B-side to the UK single “My Hero,” and it later received some radio play in certain markets.

The group played it live occasionally in the following years, but its last performance was in November 2007.

After nearly 20 years away from the setlist, the band brought the cover back earlier this month at a benefit for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

The Kimmel performance let a wider audience see the song’s return, with lead guitarist Chris Shiflett playing its famous riff.

Foo Fighters’ world tour is due to begin its Australian leg next week.
