Alex Eala rallied past Talia Gibson to reach the Pan Pacific Open quarter-finals in Tokyo.

The 21-year-old from the Philippines lost the first set 4-6, then won 6-2 and 6-0 to take the match.

Her next opponent is Diana Shnaider, a 22-year-old Russian ranked 13th in the world.

Shnaider also reached the last eight, beating Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich in three sets.

The match is a rematch of last week's Ningbo meeting, where Shnaider beat Eala 7-5, 6-4.
