Tribute singer denies alleged comment about killing his wife at MotoGP show

Australian singer Louie Lee Feltrin denied making the alleged comment during his performance at the MotoGP event on Phillip Island.

A domestic violence awareness reporter said Feltrin told the crowd, “I'd kill my wife if I could.”

Feltrin said the words were a joke about his marriage proposal, taken out of context.

He said he does not condone violence against women and recognised that his words had upset people.

The controversy has put his onstage remarks under scrutiny amid concerns about violence against women in Australia.

Feltrin said his son was performing with him and that the situation had been difficult for his family.

He said he would change his stage banter to avoid misunderstandings; it is unclear whether video exists or whether event organisers will review the remarks.
