Modi accuses opposition of obstruction and sets out national priorities

Narendra Modi accused the opposition of obstructing government at a national unity event in Kevadia, Gujarat.

The event marked the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and included a parade.

Modi said the opposition was failing to meet its constitutional role, and warned of forces he said were trying to divide citizens and spread rumours.

He also said that although Naxalism had ended in remote areas, the threat from ideological extremists remained.

He named securing India's borders and ending infiltration as priorities, along with addressing demographic changes and moving towards a secular civil code.

Modi said the country would pursue its goal of becoming strong and capable by 2047, despite obstacles.
