PS5 jailbreak works on many consoles but not the latest firmware
A jailbreak called Relapse lets users run unauthorized software on many PS5 consoles.
It uses a flaw in the console’s web browser to access its core system, and the exploit was made public on September 29, 2026.
It works on standard PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles with firmware 7.00 to 13.60.
Sony’s newer versions, 14.00 and 14.10, are not affected, and Sony does not offer an official way to return to older software.
The jailbreak has enabled projects that run games and emulators from other platforms, but unofficial stores are also distributing illegally copied games.
Sony has not publicly commented, and no bans linked to Relapse have been reported so far.
Modified consoles could still face suspension from PlayStation Network under Sony’s rules.
A claim that GTA 6 will require firmware 14.10 has not been confirmed by Sony or Rockstar.
A jailbreak called Relapse works on standard PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles running firmware versions 7.00 through 13.60.
It uses a web browser vulnerability to gain access to the system kernel and run unsigned code.
The jailbreak does not persist after a console restarts.
Sony’s firmware 14.00 and 14.10 are outside the jailbreak’s reach, and no public jailbreak for those versions had been reported by October 7.
Relapse has enabled homebrew projects, while unofficial shops have also appeared that distribute illegal copies of games.
Sony has not publicly commented on Relapse, and modified consoles may face suspension under PlayStation Network rules.
