Indonesia expands school repairs and classroom technology

Indonesia’s government says it is upgrading schools and expanding digital learning during President Prabowo Subianto’s first two years in office.

In 2025, a school-repair program reached 16,167 education facilities, benefiting more than 4.2 million students across the country.

For 2026, the government set a target of revitalizing 51,744 education facilities, prioritizing schools with serious damage, those in remote areas and those affected by disasters.

By September 28, assistance had been distributed to 38,586 facilities.

The education ministry also said about 289,000 schools received digital learning equipment from 2025 onward, including interactive boards and laptops.

These tools are intended to make lessons more engaging, but schools also need electricity and internet, and teachers need training to use them well.

The next step is to complete the upgrades and support their effective use in classrooms across Indonesia.
