UK celebrity loses bid to block sexual misconduct allegations, stays unnamed
A London High Court judge rejected a celebrity’s bid to block publication of allegations against him by ITN and the Guardian.
The unnamed British man is accused of using his status to pursue sexual relationships with young women and teenagers, and he denies the allegations.
The court did not decide whether any of the claims are true.
His lawyers argued publication could lead him to take his own life and said he had made two suicide attempts.
The media organisations say the allegations followed an investigation and that publishing them is in the public interest.
The judge said blocking publication would seriously interfere with the news organisations’ rights, but the man will stay anonymous while he appeals.
The court’s decision on the injunction does not approve any future publication of the allegations.
