ECO Live says remaining festival insurance funds are reserved for victims’ families

ECO Live says remaining festival insurance funds are reserved for victims’ families

Two photographers died when a decorative structure fell at the AXE Ceremonia festival in Mexico City.

The deaths led to a court case involving eight people and three companies accused of negligent homicide.

Miguel Ángel Rojas’s family says companies linked to festival organizer ECO Live had already received insurance money and alleges pressure to accept a settlement.

ECO Live says the policy’s stated value was not the amount paid.

It says the policy was used to meet an agreement with Berenice Giles’s family, and remaining funds are reserved for both families.

During a court hearing, companies linked to Grupo ECO asked the judge to find that the time limit for prosecuting the companies had expired.

The families’ court case is continuing, and ECO Live says it remains willing to reach a settlement with Rojas’s family.
