Puebla received 13.7 million tourists from January to September

The Mexican state of Puebla received 13.7 million tourists from January to September 2026, generating 16.031 billion pesos in tourism revenue.

The totals were up 4.94% from the same period a year earlier, according to state tourism secretary Carla López-Malo.

Puebla aims to attract 18 million visitors and generate 18.5 billion pesos in revenue during 2026.

More travelers are visiting destinations beyond the capital: about 30% now go directly to the state’s Pueblos Mágicos, compared with an earlier pattern in which 90% concentrated in the capital.

San Andrés Cholula and San Pedro Cholula led visits, followed by Atlixco, Zacatlán, Cuetzalan and Chignahuapan.

Passenger arrivals at Puebla’s airport rose 31.88%, following the addition of flights from June, including 20 Volaris services.

Hotels had average occupancy of 51.64%, while the state is also promoting nature tourism and training local operators.

Officials are continuing promotion to meet the annual targets as the year draws to a close.
