Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi head to tennis events in Japan and China

Indonesia’s Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi are competing in two Asian tennis events from 19 to 25 October.

Tjen will play singles and doubles at the Japan Open in Osaka, Japan, while Sutjiadi will play doubles at the Ningbo Open in China with New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe.

Tjen’s first singles opponent is American Ashlyn Krueger, and Tjen is seeded sixth; if she wins, she will face the winner of another first-round match.

Tjen and Australian Storm Hunter will also face Ingrid Martins of Brazil and Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain in doubles.

Sutjiadi and Routliffe open against China’s Qianhui Tang and Yifan Xu in Ningbo.

Both Indonesian players are coming off early exits in doubles at the Wuhan Open, although Tjen reached the singles round of 16.

The tournaments offer a chance to regain momentum and earn ranking points during the Asian Swing, a series of professional events in Asia late in the season.
