CSK appoints Albie Morkel, Gareth Batty and Mohit Sharma to coaching staff

Chennai Super Kings have added three coaches ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season.

Former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel and former England spinner Gareth Batty will be assistant coaches, while former India fast bowler Mohit Sharma will lead the bowling department.

All three have joined CSK’s support staff, a team now led by head coach Zaheer Khan, who replaced Stephen Fleming.

Morkel and Mohit both previously played for CSK, while Morkel also coaches the team’s sister franchise, Joburg Super Kings.

The appointments are part of a coaching overhaul after CSK went three seasons without reaching the playoffs.

The five-time champions are aiming to return to the playoffs and pursue a sixth title.

The coaching team will now help shape the squad as CSK finalise player retentions before the mini auction.
