England change lineup after two straight defeats to Canada

England have made five changes to their starting lineup for Friday’s women’s rugby match against the United States in New Jersey.

Flo Robinson will make her first international start at scrum half and play alongside Holly Aitchison.

Winger Claudia Moloney-MacDonald, centre Tatyana Heard and props Mackenzie Carson and Maud Muir also come into the starting side.

The changes follow two straight defeats to Canada, the first time in a decade England have lost consecutive matches.

Canada’s two wins came after England’s 39-match winning run ended in a draw in September.

Coach John Mitchell says the changes are meant to refresh the squad and build depth as England prepare to face the United States.

England beat the US 69-7 in their last meeting, the opening match of last year’s World Cup.
