Leaked Trailer Offers a Glimpse of Cancelled Mass Effect Game

EA shut down BioWare and cancelled its next Mass Effect game, ending work on the sequel.

A trailer made for the game has since circulated online, reportedly shared by a former BioWare employee.

The footage is described as in-engine but uses pre-production assets, so it offers an early glimpse rather than a finished game.

It follows a new protagonist on a spy-like mission across the galaxy, with gunfights and biotic powers.

The trailer also shows an older Liara T’Soni, a familiar character from the original trilogy.

It gives the game the name Mass Effect Universe, though it is unclear whether that was its final title.

The game is cancelled, so there is no release planned; what happens to the Mass Effect series next is unknown.
