Sheinbaum sends three nominees to lead Mexico’s federal labor centre

President Claudia Sheinbaum sent three nominees to Mexico’s Senate to lead the Federal Centre for Labour Conciliation and Registration, known as the CFCRL.

The candidates are David Alejandro Jiménez Padilla, Tey Wendolyne Retana Alarcón and José Luis Sánchez Cuazitl.

The CFCRL handles labour conciliation and union registration, making its leadership relevant to workplace disputes and union affairs.

The candidates have experience in law and public service, including work on labour issues and Mexico’s labour justice reform.

The Senate needs a two-thirds vote to approve a nominee and has 30 days to decide.

If it does not decide in time, Sheinbaum can choose someone from the three-person shortlist; if senators reject the list, she must send another one.
