Sarri criticises referee after Atalanta lose 3-2 to Milan

Milan beat Atalanta 3-2 at San Siro in a Serie A match on October 18.

Atalanta coach Maurizio Sarri criticised referee Daniele Chiffi after the game, saying he was unhappy with how the match was officiated.

Sarri questioned why a player was shown only a yellow card after insulting the referee; another account identified the player as Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

He also argued that Milan should have conceded a handball penalty for a touch by Koni De Winter, while two handballs in Atalanta’s area led to penalties for Milan.

Sarri said Atalanta had a chance to make it 3-3 five minutes from the end but did not earn any points.

The club has lost four of its first seven league games, and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said Atalanta still need to develop a clear identity and improve.
