BMW cuts its 2026 profit and return targets again

BMW has cut its 2026 targets for a second time, lowering its forecasts for the automotive business.

It now expects the segment’s EBIT margin to range from -0.5% to +0.5%, down from a previous forecast of 1% to 3%.

Its expected return on capital employed has also fallen, to between -1% and +1% from 1% to 5%.

BMW says new restructuring and portfolio measures will affect fourth-quarter results, although its operating financial performance remained solid in the third quarter.

The company expects automotive deliveries to fall moderately from 2025, while the share of fully electric cars is expected to rise slightly.

Motorcycle deliveries are also forecast to decline slightly.

BMW plans to speed up changes to its organisation and processes, including reducing management positions faster than previously announced.
