Astor Enerji Shareholders Pay 5 Billion Lira as Measures Are Lifted

Astor Enerji shareholders Enver and Feridun Geçgel paid 5 billion lira into a voluntary return account run by Turkey’s Savings Deposit Insurance Fund, known as TMSF.

The payment was made as an investigation into transactions in Turkey’s capital markets continues.

Prosecutors said they had lifted measures and a suspension decision concerning the two men.

They did so after reviewing evidence, TMSF notifications, the scope of shareholdings and the limits of corporate authority in the alleged conduct.

They must report unusual changes in their assets and seek the prosecutor’s view on transactions to prevent sham deals.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the payment and lifted measures do not mean it has ended.
