Spanish police detain 10 people linked to Blocus ahead of planned protests

Spanish police have detained 10 people linked to Blocus ahead of a planned mobilisation on Saturday, October 31.

The arrests took place in several parts of Spain, including Valencia, Barcelona, Bilbao and Tenerife.

A 20-year-old arrested in Picanya is accused of leading the movement and running Telegram groups used to promote the protests.

Blocus presented itself as a campaign for better schools, but police say its online calls aimed to provoke violence and looting.

The previous unrest left 15 police officers injured and 23 shops looted, and 128 people were detained, most of them minors.

Authorities have ordered a large police deployment to prevent further violence during the weekend mobilisation.

Police are preparing for more disturbances on Saturday as the investigation into those linked to Blocus continues.
