Netanyahu says he is trying to prevent a direct clash with Turkey

Benjamin Netanyahu said he is trying to prevent a direct military clash with Turkey.

The Israeli prime minister said he hoped the two countries would not end up in a direct confrontation.

He made the comments while discussing developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.

The tensions follow Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly in September, where he criticized Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Netanyahu accused Erdoğan of wanting Israel’s destruction and of making claims over Jerusalem.

A direct clash between the countries is the risk Netanyahu says he is seeking to avoid.

He said they are considering all possibilities, without singling out any country.
