Global payments revenue is forecast to grow 5% a year through 2030
The global payments industry is expected to keep growing through 2030, but more slowly than in recent years.
Revenue reached nearly $2 trillion in 2025 and is forecast to reach about $2.6 trillion by 2030.
That would mean average annual growth of 5%, compared with 7% over the previous six years.
More of the growth is expected to come from transaction-related income and services linked to moving money.
Revenue directly tied to transactions is forecast to grow 6% a year.
The boost from higher interest rates is fading, and there is less room to shift from cash to digital payments in mature economies.
Instant payments, tokenised payment tools and artificial intelligence are expanding what financial systems can do, while the Middle East and Africa and Latin America are expected to grow faster as digital payments spread.
Global payments revenue is forecast to reach about $2.6 trillion in 2030, up from nearly $2 trillion in 2025.
Boston Consulting Group projects annual growth of 5% through 2030, down from 7% over the previous six years.

The report says growth will be uneven, with more moderate expansion in mature markets and greater pressure on profitability.
