Actress Lydia Fedoseyeva-Shukshina is 88 and seriously ill after being hospitalized on October 13 with a flare-up of long-standing heart problems.

Her lawyer says her condition is stable after a recent worsening, while her daughter says there has been some improvement.

The daughter also says the actress is conscious and denies claims that she is in an induced coma or on a breathing machine.

A report that she has been assigned palliative care has not been officially confirmed, and her lawyer called that description offensive and unethical.

Palliative care aims to ease symptoms and improve quality of life, and can be given alongside treatment for an illness.
