Russia and US discuss data centers powered by nuclear plants
Russian and US officials are discussing joint economic projects, according to Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, speaking in Moscow.
One proposal is data centers using electricity from Russian nuclear plants, though no deal has been announced.
Dmitriev said the two sides have drawn up a list of projects that Russian companies are already working on.
The talks come as Moscow and Washington try to expand commercial ties despite Russia-related sanctions and tensions over the war in Ukraine.
Dmitriev also said the US Treasury had asked Russia’s investment fund, which he leads, to help resolve payment problems tied to a separate diesel agreement.
Sanctions could hinder wider cooperation, and Dmitriev said further initiatives would be announced soon.
