Erick Thohir Says He Was 36th on Alleged Wiretap List

Indonesian Sports Minister Erick Thohir says he was listed as the 36th person allegedly wiretapped by former police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo and others.

Thohir said he did not know what the recorded conversations contained and hoped they were not negative.

He says he will focus on his work and wait for the police to verify the case.

Investigators allege that phone numbers were added to a police interception system without the required checks or legal procedures.

Listyo and three other senior police officers are suspects in the case, which also involves alleged surveillance of President Prabowo and other prominent figures.

The presidential palace has described the alleged surveillance as an act that could amount to treason.
