Turkey Opens New Aircraft Maintenance Facility in Eskişehir

Turkey’s Defence Minister Yaşar Güler opened a new facility at the 1st Air Maintenance Factory in Eskişehir during its 100th anniversary ceremony.

The factory began operating in 1926 as the Eskişehir Aircraft Repair Shop and now handles aircraft and engine maintenance, upgrades and parts production.

The new facility is meant to make aircraft maintenance and repairs more effective and meet growing aviation demands.

It is also intended to strengthen the infrastructure that supports the Turkish Air Force’s readiness for combat.

Güler said Turkey is continuing investments to improve the air force’s capabilities and prepare for future operations.

He pointed to projects including HÜRKUŞ, HÜRJET, GÖKBEY and the KAAN fighter as signs of the country’s aviation industry development.

Turkey plans to keep developing its domestic capabilities, while the new facility is expected to support the air force’s maintenance needs.
