Chiefs Place L’Jarius Sneed on Injured Reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs placed cornerback L’Jarius Sneed on injured reserve after he opened the season with four starts.

The move takes Sneed off the active roster, and practice squad cornerback Melvin Smith will take his roster spot.

The team did not indicate that Sneed’s injury will end his season, leaving open the possibility he could return in the final weeks.

Sneed rejoined Kansas City this year after the team traded him to the Tennessee Titans, where injuries limited him to five games in 2024 and seven last season.

His return has not yet reversed his recent decline: after starting the first four games, he was benched and played fewer snaps over the past two weeks.

A late-season return could give Sneed a chance to show improvement, while Kansas City will be without him for now and also has rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane inactive for its next game.
