Crowds in Morelia struggle to get tickets for Del Toro film screening

People queued from before dawn in Morelia, Mexico, hoping to get tickets for a screening of Guillermo del Toro’s “Pan’s Labyrinth.”

The film is scheduled to screen at the Teatro Mariano Matamoros on Sunday, October 18, as part of the Morelia International Film Festival.

The screening marks 20 years since the film’s 2006 premiere, which was also held at the festival in Morelia.

Many people in the queue were told at the theater that most tickets had already sold through the online system, leaving them frustrated and without seats.

One person in line said she was told 30% of the seats may still be released, possibly on Sunday morning.

Del Toro is expected to attend, adding to the interest among residents, visitors and journalists.

The screening reconnects the film with the festival where it first premiered, but the sources do not confirm when or how the remaining seats will be made available.
