Munich prosecutors search Deutsche Finance Group over suspected bribery
Munich prosecutors searched Deutsche Finance Group offices on Tuesday as part of an investigation into suspected bribery.
Investigators are examining whether company managers gave Bavarian pension fund staff trips and benefits in connection with joint US property investments.
The company said it was searched as a third party, is cooperating with investigators and cannot comment further while the case is ongoing.
The search comes as one Deutsche Finance fund is in provisional insolvency, putting 58 million US dollars invested by 1,187 people at risk.
That fund backed a building near Boston that was completed in 2024 but remains empty, with no rental or sale secured.
About 50,000 German investors have put 1.4 billion euros into the company’s funds, making the investigation relevant well beyond the one insolvent fund.
Prosecutors said they expect to provide more information in a few days.
