Makinde urges Nigerian voters to accept campaign money but vote freely
Seyi Makinde launched his APM presidential campaign in Bauchi State ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
He urged voters to accept money offered by politicians but vote their conscience, rather than let inducements decide their choice.
Makinde said his proposed Reset Agenda would address hunger and insecurity, as well as people’s exclusion from government.
He argued that these problems require changes to economic policies, security and governance.
Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed backed Makinde and said the APM offered a new platform after they left the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mohammed also urged Makinde to ensure fair representation in federal appointments, including for Bauchi and the North-east, if he becomes president.
He said appointments should balance merit with representation and that Bauchi needed more support to meet its obligations, including paying workers’ salaries.

What people are saying
Don’t bother at all when they bring money, it is your money. Collect it, spend it, but vote your heart. And I know your heart is with us and with APM
Our people are hungry. Because we’re hungry, should we reset the economy? Because there is insecurity, should we reset the security architecture? Because the majority of our people are not allowed to participate, should we reset the socio-political environment in Nigeria?
There are over 100,000 positions to be filled, but they must not be occupied by one ethnic group alone or skewed in favour of one tribe
