Saudi-led coalition denies threats to target gatherings in Yemen

A Saudi-led coalition spokesman denied Houthi claims that Saudi Arabia had threatened to target tribal and civilian gatherings in Yemen.

The statement was made by coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki on Thursday.

Al-Maliki called the claims baseless and said Saudi Arabia denied them completely.

He said the claims were intended to mislead the public and draw attention away from the Houthis’ problems and actions.

The coalition said Yemeni tribes are an important part of Yemen’s social and historical fabric, and should not be drawn into conflicts.

Saudi Arabia said it remains committed to Yemen’s security and stability and to preserving ties between the two peoples.

The statement did not announce any further action.
