Pauline Ferrand-Prévot returns to training after a long break

French cyclist Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has returned to training after a long break from competition.

The 34-year-old abandoned the 2026 Tour de France before stage eight and recorded no wins during the season.

That followed a standout 2025, when she won the Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix.

Ferrand-Prévot said she had become so focused on winning that she lost the joy of everyday life and needed time with family away from the demands of racing.

Her husband, cyclist Dylan van Baarle, was hit by a car while training shortly before their wedding, but was not seriously injured; she said the incident helped put racing in perspective.

She says she is not yet in good shape, and that rebuilding her form will take time.

For now, she is focused on enjoying being back on a bike; she hopes to return to competition next season.
