Colombia arrests two Mexican nationals accused of linking CJNG and Clan del Golfo

Colombian police arrested two Mexican nationals in Barranquilla on October 28.

The pair, known by the aliases “La Patrona” and “La Pau,” are accused of acting as links between the CJNG and Clan del Golfo in Colombia.

Authorities say they coordinated cocaine shipments from Colombia to the United States and Europe.

The arrests came in a joint operation involving Colombia’s criminal investigation police, the FBI and the Colombian prosecutor’s office, and were made with a view to extradition to the United States.

The operation also stopped one tonne of cocaine bound for the United States and targeted the networks’ logistics.

The arrests come a month after Colombia detained another alleged CJNG link in Medellín; authorities say the latest arrests are part of efforts to weaken international drug-trafficking networks.
