Former Indonesian police official Napoleon Bonaparte dies

Former Indonesian police official Napoleon Bonaparte died on Sunday at a hospital, according to his lawyer, who said he had been ill.

He was 60 and had led the National Police’s International Relations Division.

His funeral is scheduled for Monday in Cikeas, Bogor, with a police ceremony planned.

Bonaparte joined the police after graduating from the police academy in 1988 and held several senior investigative roles.

He was removed from his top post after a bribery case involving Djoko Tjandra.

A court found him guilty and sentenced him to four years in prison.

His death ends the career of a senior officer whose public record also included a criminal conviction.
