Two spice recalls in Germany warn consumers not to use affected products
Two spice recalls have been announced in Germany after testing found unwanted substances in separate products.
Ulrich Walter GmbH is recalling Lebensbaum dried savory in 25-gram packs, with three listed best-before dates and batch numbers; it was sold in 15 German states.
Orient Gate GmbH is recalling Abido sumac in 50-gram packs, with a best-before date of 10 March 2029 and lot number 10-3-2618952 OH.
The savory tested positive for plant toxins, while the sumac contained elevated levels of the pesticide chlorpyrifos and the unauthorised dye E 122.
These substances can pose health risks, so consumers should not eat either affected product.
The savory can be returned to the place of purchase, though the recall notice gives no refund details; the sumac can be returned for a refund, even without a receipt.
