Sona Mohapatra backs Dhurandhar 2’s Grammy submissions

Singer Sona Mohapatra has defended the makers of the Indian film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, also called Dhurandhar 2.

The film’s music, composed by Shashwat Sachdev, has been submitted for consideration in nine categories at the 2027 Grammy Awards.

The submissions include the soundtrack and several songs in categories covering global music, pop, dance, rap and music for visual media.

Some social media users criticised Indian musicians for seeking recognition from Western awards.

Mohapatra said musicians often receive too little attention from producers, award shows and the wider Indian film industry.

She said music makers can be sidelined at launches and promotions, even when their work is widely recognised.

She hopes India will build respected platforms that celebrate musicians across genres, so they do not have to look abroad for recognition.
