Israeli forces kill disabled civilian during raid in southern Syria, SANA says

Syria’s state news agency says Israeli forces shot dead a civilian with a disability during a raid early Thursday.

The man was killed in Jamla, in the western countryside of Deraa, in southern Syria.

SANA said Israeli forces searched homes and placed snipers on rooftops; the man’s body was taken to Deraa National Hospital.

The killing comes amid repeated Israeli raids and incursions in southern Syria since Bashar al-Assad was removed from power in December 2024.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the increased incursions, saying they undermine stability and security.

Israel says it plans to keep troops in a security zone in the south, while talks on a security agreement have largely stalled since the US-Israel war on Iran began in February.

Israel’s military had not immediately commented on the reported killing.
