Ukraine says Russia used Oleshky ceasefire to strengthen positions
Ukraine's General Staff accused Russia of using the Oleshky ceasefire for military activity during a humanitarian evacuation in Kherson Oblast.
It said Russian forces rotated soldiers, reinforced positions, expanded anti-drone protection on roads and brought in ammunition.
The ceasefire was agreed to let civilians leave Russian-occupied Oleshky, a city across the Dnipro River from Kherson.
It ran from Oct.
27 to Nov.
1, and neither Ukraine nor Russia reported violations during that time.
Melania Trump said nearly 800 people were evacuated during the operation.
Residents could choose to go to Ukraine or Russia, but the number who went to each country is unclear.
Officials are exploring ways to continue similar humanitarian efforts, according to Ukraine's ombudsman.
