Russia aims to raise power-sector import substitution to 90-95%
Russia says it has replaced 80-85% of imported equipment and components in its electric power sector.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said the government aims to raise that share to 90-95% in the coming years.
The announcement came at a meeting at Power Machines, a Russian power equipment manufacturer, in the Leningrad region.
The work includes replacing foreign parts and developing domestic gas turbines.
Power Machines is mass-producing its GTE-170 turbine for new power capacity in the Moscow region, the Far East and Siberia.
The company is also developing larger turbine models, with prototype work on the GTE-65 nearing completion and early design work under way on the GTE-300.
Russia's goal is to rely more on equipment made at home, as it develops technology for its energy sector.
The government has not given a deadline beyond saying it wants to reach the target in the coming years.
