Fire destroys hotel on route to Everest Base Camp

A fire destroyed Hotel Good Luck in Dingboche, in Nepal’s Mount Everest region, on Friday.

The lodge stands on the route to Everest Base Camp, a trekking destination.

The 17-room hotel was popular with tourists visiting the region.

Guests and staff were evacuated safely, and no casualties were reported.

The fire reportedly began in the kitchen; police said a cooking gas cylinder explosion was a possible cause, pending investigation.
