Bayer raises 2026 profit outlook as pharmaceuticals outperform

German company Bayer raised its profit outlook for 2026 after its pharmaceutical business performed better than expected.

The company said stronger medicines performance helped offset pressure in its agricultural and consumer-health divisions.

Bayer’s pharmaceutical sales reached 4.68 billion euros in the third quarter, 5% above analysts’ expectations.

Its adjusted operating profit was also about 13% higher than analysts expected.

The agricultural division fell short of expectations, with adjusted operating profit of 101 million euros against an expected 164 million euros.

Bayer has faced heavy debt and costly Roundup lawsuits since it bought Monsanto for $63 billion in 2018.

The company also lowered its year-end net debt forecast by 1 billion euros, to between 28 billion and 29 billion euros.
