Former banker sentenced to five years for N2.7bn fraud
A court in Ikeja, Lagos, sentenced former banker Christopher Jackson Edeh to five years in prison for a N2.7 billion fraud.
Judge O.O. Abike-Fadipe convicted him on nine counts of fraudulent false accounting and unauthorised access to a computer system.
The sentences total 39 years on paper, but the judge ordered them to run at the same time, so Edeh will serve five years.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said Edeh was charged in 2024 over claims that he altered account details for customers and government-related entities.
The accounts named included those of the Kano State Government, NNPC Trading Limited and the Lagos State Government’s Blue Line project.
The court found the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, and the prison terms carry no option of a fine.
