Man arrested over renting the same Castro Urdiales flat to four people
A 41-year-old man from Bizkaia was arrested on October 9 over alleged rental fraud in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria.
He had rented a holiday flat for five days, from August 18 to 22, then offered the flat to four separate tenants.
The four paid a total of €6,000 in deposits and first-month rent, with contracts all starting on August 22.
That day, they each arrived with keys, unable to get into the flat; one had already moved in belongings.
Police say the contracts contained false details, and the man is also suspected of document forgery and identity-related offences.
The case highlights the risk of renting from someone whose right to let a property has not been checked; police advise verifying ownership and keeping payment records.
