Asda investigates reports of car problems after refuelling in Coleraine

Asda is investigating reports of car problems after customers bought fuel at its station in Coleraine, Northern Ireland.

The company says some, but not all, fuel purchases made between 25 and 29 October may have been affected.

Drivers have reported problems including cars struggling to accelerate, breaking down or failing to start.

The cause and the number of affected vehicles are not yet known.

Asda has apologised and says it is working with customers who may have been affected.

Most pumps have reopened, while some remain out of use as the company works to resolve the issue.

Customers with vehicle problems after buying fuel during that period are asked to contact Asda.

We don’t yet know what has caused these problems, but it’s important that customers who have recently filled up at the station are kept informed of any potential issue.

I eventually managed to get the car started again and it again was struggling, but I nursed it to a car park in Long Commons area of Coleraine and there it has stayed ever since

It was only after we spoke to my sister, who had also filled up her car at the same petrol station on Sunday and whose car had also broken down, that we eventually realised the issue could be linked to the fuel
