Two Point O raises $10 million for clean energy financing

India-based Two Point O Capital raised $10 million in a Series A funding round led by Transition Venture Capital, with existing backer Omnivore and angel investors also participating.

The startup aims to address a financing gap for smaller clean energy projects at factories, commercial buildings and industrial sites, where funding has lagged behind large utility-scale projects.

It offers financing, equipment leasing and project solutions for rooftop solar, batteries, energy efficiency and wastewater treatment.

The company says it has onboarded around 25 to 30 large customers and increased its assets under management 1.5 times in each of the last three quarters.

It plans to use much of the funding to finance clean energy equipment deployments, improve its technology and hire staff.

Two Point O aims to expand across India and reach $100 million in assets under management over the next couple of years, including by entering the small and medium-sized business segment.

There was a lot of capital that was getting pumped into utility-scale, grid-scale projects. But there wasn’t enough capital inflows into the distributed or decentralised energy projects, to put it simply, for industries and buildings.
