People Power Party leader says policy results, not alliances, will broaden support
People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok said that winning support from centrist voters requires solving problems they care about, not just making alliances or changing party leaders.
He made the comments in a YouTube appearance in South Korea on Sunday.
Jang said party members should decide his leadership and any bid to serve another term.
He also announced a party review and organizational changes planned for early next year, saying they would help renew the party.
On a proposed special counsel law concerning alleged fabricated indictments, Jang said the party should win enough seats at the next general election to impeach President Lee Jae Myung.
He called for Lee and officials involved in the law and investigations to be jailed, presenting this as his political position rather than a court decision.
People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok said the party would broaden its centrist support by solving issues voters want addressed, not through verbal calls for alliances or unity.
He said that bringing in one person or posing for a photograph with someone would not expand support.
Jang said party members should decide how long he remains leader and what role he should play.
He also said the party would pursue internal personnel changes to establish a clear direction.

What people are saying
Centrist expansion does not come from verbal alliances and unity, verbal reform, or verbal changes in party leadership; it comes when we properly solve the problems the people want solved.
No matter how many days you do it, centrist support will not expand if you act as though it is somewhere else, as though you can bring in one person, or as though you can do it by holding hands and taking a picture with someone.
