Sevilla coach criticises refereeing after defeat at Real Madrid
Sevilla lost to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, and coach Luis García Plaza criticised the refereeing after the match.
He said Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler should have been sent off for an elbow on Sevilla player Peque in the 25th minute.
García Plaza argued that Sevilla should then have played for about 65 minutes against 10 men, though he said the result might still have gone Real Madrid’s way.
Sevilla players also complained about a possible foul on Robbie Ure before a Real Madrid goal.
Sevilla said the VAR team should have reviewed the elbow, while García Plaza questioned why it did not intervene.
The comments come amid arguments over refereeing in Spanish football, with García Plaza also suggesting the decision might have affected the points gap before the Clásico.
Sevilla’s coach says the missed call changed the match, but the sources give no next step beyond the public criticism.
