India leave Jadeja and Jaiswal out of New Zealand ODI squads

India have named changed squads for a five-match ODI series in New Zealand, splitting selections between the first three games and the last two.

Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal are absent from both squads; the BCCI has not explained Jaiswal’s omission.

All-rounder Axar Patel takes Jadeja’s place, while wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan replaces Dhruv Jurel.

Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh also return after missing the West Indies series because of the Asian Games.

The squads change again after the first three matches as some players leave to prepare for two Test matches, which begin four days after the ODIs.

Tilak Varma, Kumar Kushagra and Yash Thakur join for the final two games, while Auqib Nabi returns in place of Anshul Kamboj.

The selections give Axar a chance to press his case for the 2027 World Cup, though the series schedule and performances will determine what follows.
